Review of The Girls at 17 Swann Street

This book takes you on a journey that I have never had a problem with myself but made me feel like I right there with Anna and the other girls from 17 Swann Street.
This story is a look at eating disorders and how it not only effects the person with the eating disorder but also their family and friends. I feel like it was a very honest look at eating disorders and was handled very well.
I loved the writing style. I picked this book up at 7:00 one night and finished it the next day because I was so drawn to the characters and their stories.

I received this book for free in exchange for my honest review.

Review of The Silent Patient

Okay so this one really took me by surprise! I really enjoyed this story and the ending came out of nowhere. We are introduced to a myriad of characters including Alicia Berenson, who is in a mental hospital after shooting her husband five times in the face and Dr. Theo Faber, who wants to work with Alicia to try to find out why she killed her husband. The only problem is....she hasn’t spoken since her husband’s murder.

Loved the pace of this book and the writing style. It was a very quick and enjoyable read.

I was provided this book for free in exchange for my honest review. #TheSilentPatient

Epic Mom fail!!

Epic Mom fail today...me and the kiddo and husband were in the bedroom and I was showing them my panty drawer.. it’s not weird, I had just finished “tidying” it up and I was super proud of how neat it looked. I continued to open drawers and realized that I had hid our elf on the shelf in the drawer with my bras and my 8 year old daughter saw her! Me and my husband had been discussing the fact that we needed to talk to her about Christmas and Santa and the elf since she’s getting a little old for that but I thought we had time to plan what we were going to say...life had other plans. So I was irritated with myself for forgetting where I hid the elf and told my husband he could break the news to her about the elf. DON’T EVER DO THIS!!!

My husband is a no nonsense kind of guy, so he tosses the elf to her and tells her “The elf’s not real”.
Thats what he came up with?!?! That was how he felt was the best way to break it to our sweet little boy??! Soooo, of course, tears start streaming down her face. This idea that she had grown up with was now destroyed and my husband is looking dumbfounded because he didn’t think she really believed in the elf. I have to admit, I was a little surprised too because I can’t tell you how many times I’ve forgotten to move the stupid thing.

But have no fear, Mom was there to fix everything. I explained to her that the elf was just a fun part of Christmas and that we moved it around but just because it wasn’t real didn’t mean that we couldn’t still have fun with the elf and now she could move the elf too. Crisis averted.

Lesson learned today, never let husband break news to the children. He probably is going just toss it out there instead of breaking it to them gently so you will have to end up cleaning up the mess anyway.

A little about me...

Okay, so this is my first time doing anything like this so input and suggestions are always welcome.

I am a 42 mother of three wonderful girls.  I live in Arkansas and have pretty much always lived in Arkansas.  I have a wonderful husband of two 1/2 years.  I was once an accountant at a large insurance company but due to a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis in 2013, I then became retired before 40.

I stay busy reading books and taking care of my husband and my youngest daughter.  I love books!! Always have but now that I have extra time and don't want to turn into a couch potato, I really LOVE books!! I read all different genres and love to find new authors.

This year is my year of empowerment.  Last year, I listened to Girl, Wash your Face by Rachel Hollis and this year I listened to Of Mess and Moxie by Jen Hatmaker.  I was astonished by how empowered I felt after listening to these books.

Right now I am reading Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas, A Woman of War by Mandy Robotham(which I was lucky to get for free from #netgalley for an honest review) and I'm listening to I Can Only Imagine by Bart Millard.  As soon as I finish these books, I will update with a post about my feelings on these books.

I want this blog to be about books, motherhood, marriage and being an MS warrior.

I hope you will continue to come back and visit often!
